The Media Tour
During my years living in the Cayman Islands I had the opportunity to handle media tours, as well as remotes from the major TV networks. These included the Royal Visits, and the media associated with them. Some of the most enjoyable were with the Nashville Network, where the stars of Nashville sang their hearts out in the soft Caribbean breeze. There is a lot more attention being given to the training of planners in how to handle media visits, not for scheduled tours, but for coverage of disasters such as school shootings, and other criminal events that cause a frantic crush on media satellite trucks covering the event. Even the local police department needs to be have a plan for managing media visits once managed by professionals. more shortly .......

Well planned Media Tours are great experiences, others particularly political ones can be absolute disasters. The White House Press Corps especially can be a hand full of Prima Donnas demanding individual VIP treatment and pampered by everyone. The same with many TV celebrities, or worse those who are celebrities in their own mind.
